BMA and Astute Early Years Specialists Nominated for Prestigious Queensland Mining Award

We at Astute Early Years Specialists are thrilled to announce that our collaborative initiative with BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) has been nominated for the Community, Staff Engagement, or Equal Opportunity Award at the esteemed Queensland Mining Awards. This nomination is a significant acknowledgment of our innovative efforts in regional childcare through the Childcare Leadership Alliance (CLA) project.

Launched in 2022 with the support and funding of BMA, the CLA has been a transformative force in addressing childcare challenges in regional communities. As the lead project delivery partner, Astute Early Years Specialists have been instrumental in pioneering strategic solutions to empower early childhood and school-age care providers. Our focus has been on attracting, retaining, and upskilling educators in two pilot towns within the Isaac Regional Council area.

One of our standout successes has been a campaign targeting the recruitment of international workers, which garnered an impressive 130 expressions of interest from educators around the globe. This achievement underscores the global appeal and effectiveness of our initiatives.

Melissa Comerford, Project Manager of the CLA, and Director and Founder of Astute Early Years Specialists expressed her gratitude and excitement for the nomination: “Weare incredibly proud of the work the Childcare Leadership Alliance has achieved in collaboration with BMAand Astute Early Years Specialists. Being recognised in the Queensland Mining Awards is a testament to the dedication and commitment of everyone involved in this initiative. We wish all nominees the best of luck.”

The 2024 Queensland Mining Awards will take place on Wednesday, July 24, in Mackay. The event will feature a gala dinner where winners of each of the eight categories, including the Queensland Mining Contractor of the Year, will be announced. This year’s awards mark a decade of celebrating excellence in Queensland’s resources industry, with a record-breaking 70 entries.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to BMA for their support and dedication to this project. The outcomes of our collaboration have been remarkable, and this nomination highlights the significant impact of our strategic innovation in regional childcare.

We look forward to the awards ceremony and are honoured to be part of such an esteemed event. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey with us.
